Frederick County Humane Society will attend to discuss –
FCHS has programs that help people and their pets. Last year, Frederick County Humane Society paid over $112,000 in vet bills to assist families facing hard times with the care needed for pets.
Emergency Pet Food Bank: Offers assistance to residents who can’t feed their pets on a temporary basis. FCHS distributes on average more than 2,000 pounds of dry food and 1,500 cans of wet food to over 200 Frederick County dogs and cats each month.
The Unsung K9 Hero Project: Working with Pam Wahl, we provide donations for our K9 division of local law enforcement. Together we provide items that will benefit the day-to-day operations of these fine K9 Officers as well as purchasing some working K9’s for the community.
Quick Fix for Cats Program: FCHS sponsors the Quick Fix Cat clinics twice a year (February and Septem¬ber), offering spay/neuter services at a reduced fee.
Pet Over Population (POP) Program: FCHS has partnered with local participating veterinarians to offer spay/neuter services at a reduced fee to low-income Frederick County residents.
Well-Care Assistance Program: FCHS’s Well Care Assistance Program offers county residents on a limited income, a voucher to go towards basic vet care for their companion animals.
Emergency Medical Assistance: FCHS provides financial support towards vet care for family pets who require medical treatment.
The Shanklin Fund for Seniors: This program provides a free $100 voucher to go towards annual exams and vaccines to low-income seniors 65 years or older.
Reach Out Rescue & Resources:
Reach Out Rescue & Resources is a small group of rescuers with a large amount of passion for dogs and cats!!! Founded August 2010 and 100% volunteer organization our focus is on the dogs who are the last to be adopted and saved from shelters: black dogs, hounds and seniors. Since our inception we have successfully placed over 2,000 dogs and cats in their forever homes.
Our Mission: To promote animal welfare though public awareness, to act as a rescue screening and placement service for animals needing foster and adoptive homes from high-kill shelters and to act as a resource for other rescues, shelters and prospective adopters.
Pip’s the beach cats’ story:
Pip was once an orphan wandering the streets of Berlin, Maryland-but not anymore! Now Pip resides in Ocean City, Maryland and in his free time you can find him frolicking in the sand by the ocean or riding his stand-up paddle board on the bay. Pip is an active member of his community. Volunteering at multiple nursing homes across the Eastern Shore, visiting local schools, helping to fund-raise for charities, mentoring younger members of his community, fostering homeless kittens, and providing support to families in need. Pip has a significant social media following, where he interacts with his fans daily, and has gotten to know many of them on a personal level. Pip shares his daily adventures through his social media platforms, while creating a space on his website for his adventures to be kept permanently. In addition to being an author and community volunteer, Pip is also a stuffed animal designer, and Official Greeter at many local Ocean City businesses! If you’re lucky, you might just get to see him when you are on vacation. Oh yeah, and he loves seafood!!!
